“Felt Like a Missile Had Hit” – Hapur Couple Miraculously Escapes Delhi Blast, Just 40 Steps Away

A devastating blast near Delhi’s Red Fort shook the nation on Monday, leaving several dead and many injured. Among the fortunate survivors were Hapur-based jeweler Pushkar Agrawal and his wife Pooja Agrawal, who narrowly escaped death, standing just 40 steps away from the site of the explosion.

Shopping Trip Turns Nightmare
Pushkar and Pooja had gone to Bhagirath Palace Market in Delhi to purchase electronics. They parked their car at Omex Multi-Level Parking and were browsing the market when the explosion struck. “The sound was so intense, it felt like a missile had fallen from the sky,” Pushkar recalled. In an instant, chaos erupted: shutters crashed down, people ran in all directions, and panic engulfed the marketplace.

Smoke and Gunpowder Filled the Air
Amid the blast, a thick cloud of smoke and the acrid smell of gunpowder filled the air. Pushkar described the horrifying scene, saying that parts of a human body fell close by. The screams of the injured, scattered belongings, and sheer panic created a moment of frozen terror. For a few seconds, it was impossible to comprehend what had just happened.

Finding Safety and Contacting Family
The couple managed to escape to a safer location. Meanwhile, their relatives in Hapur, alarmed by the news of the Delhi blast, were frantic. Continuous phone calls finally confirmed that Pushkar and Pooja were alive and safe, bringing immense relief to the family.

“We Can’t Believe We Survived”
Pooja Agrawal described the moment as the scariest of her life. “It felt like the earth had split open. Smoke, panic, and screams were everywhere. Even now, when I close my eyes, I see that scene in front of me,” she said.

Family and Community in Relief
Relatives and neighbors expressed immense gratitude, calling their survival nothing short of a miracle. While Delhi reeled from the blast, the incident also left Hapur in a state of shock and anxiety until the couple’s safe return was confirmed.
