New Delhi: In a deeply emotional incident, Delhi Police successfully rescued a 3-year-old girl who had been kidnapped from Kashmiri Gate 15 days ago. The child, whose mother had passed away, was safely reunited with her father, prompting an outpouring of tears from the relieved parent.
The Kidnapping Incident
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Raja Banthia, Muzaffar Ali, the father, had been taking care of his daughter at his shop near Minerva Cinema Road following the untimely death of his wife. On January 12, around 6:30 PM, the child went missing outside the shop. A kidnapping case was immediately registered, and multiple police teams were mobilized to track down the perpetrators.
CCTV Footage Leads Police to Suspects
Analysis of CCTV footage revealed that the girl was lured by another minor, aged 6–7 years, towards Old Delhi Railway Station, where a group of kidnappers was waiting. Using a systematic grid search and examining approximately 400 CCTV cameras across railway stations, markets, and surrounding areas including Shahdara and Sahibabad, the police tracked the movements of the suspects.
Kidnappers Found Begging, Child Rescued Safely
A crucial breakthrough came when CCTV captured the kidnappers traveling in an e-rickshaw near the Old Iron Bridge. Following a 12-kilometer tracking operation, the girl was safely rescued on January 17 near the Hanuman Temple in Yamuna Market. The abductors, who had been begging on the streets, had planned to traffic the child to Nepal, possibly selling her to a childless couple or a human trafficking syndicate.
Father’s Emotional Reunion
After 15 days of painstaking investigation and relentless effort by over 100 Delhi Police personnel, the child was returned safely to her father. Overcome with emotion, the father broke down in tears upon seeing his daughter. Police continue to investigate and take action against the kidnappers.
