
Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a college student from Farrukhabad district has been abducted, with kidnappers demanding a ransom via a phone call from a Pakistan-based number. The victim’s family has filed a complaint with the local police.
The Incident
The student, an MA scholar from Bahadurpur village in the Kamalganj police jurisdiction, went to college on December 17 around 11 AM but did not return home. Concerned, her family tried to locate her but were unsuccessful.
Later, the abductors contacted the family via WhatsApp, demanding a ransom of ₹2 lakh. They also sent photographs of the student, assuring her family that she would be returned once the money was paid.
Police Action
The family immediately approached Kamalganj Police Station and lodged a formal complaint. The police have taken the recordings of the ransom calls for investigation. Authorities are also considering the possibility of a cyber fraud, given that the calls came from a Pakistan-based number.
The case has caused panic in the local community and raised concerns over the safety of students commuting to college. Police are currently investigating the abduction and tracing the origin of the ransom calls.
