Farmers’ Patience Snaps in Madhya Pradesh: Fertiliser Stock Ends Before Their Turn, Farmers Block NH in Susner

The fertiliser crisis in Madhya Pradesh shows no sign of resolution, and farmers are now reaching a breaking point. In Susner of Agar-Malwa district, exhausted and frustrated farmers blocked the Ujjain–Jhalawar National Highway (NH-552G) after standing in long queues for hours only to be told that the fertiliser stock had run out.

Highway Blocked After Fertiliser ‘Finished’ Midway

According to local farmers, they had been waiting in queues since early morning with all required agricultural documents. While some farmers managed to get fertiliser initially, by noon the distribution staff declared that the stock was exhausted and the next supply would arrive late.

Hearing this, the agitated farmers marched straight to the national highway and staged a blockade. Traffic came to a standstill for a long duration, causing significant inconvenience to commuters and transporters.

Authorities Rushed to the Spot

Susner SDOP Devanarayan Yadav, Station In-Charge Kesar Rajput and a police team reached the protest site. After prolonged discussions and assurances, the administration managed to pacify the crowd. Following intervention, fertiliser distribution resumed at the same centre where officials had earlier claimed that stock was unavailable.

“We Struggle Since Morning, but Fertiliser Ends Before Our Turn”

Farmers expressed deep frustration, alleging that despite arriving at dawn, they often return empty-handed.

“We wait for hours in the queue, but by the time our turn comes, the fertiliser is finished. We have to repeat the struggle the next day,”
several farmers complained.

They demanded an improved and transparent distribution system so that farmers don’t have to suffer repeated long waits and uncertainty during the peak agricultural season.

Long Queues at Distribution Centres

Scenes of disorder were visible across various distribution points. Farmers were seen standing in long queues, some even spreading their land documents on the ground to maintain a makeshift line. Hours of waiting under the open sky has led to growing anger among the farming community.

A Crisis Demanding Urgent Attention

The incident in Susner is a reflection of a larger problem across the state. As rabi farming is at its peak, timely availability of fertiliser is crucial. Failure to ensure adequate supply may lead to more protests and severe agricultural setbacks.
