Datia, Madhya Pradesh: A remarkable gesture of generosity has paved the way for a major development in Datia district. Following an appeal by Collector Swapnil Vankhere, a local farmer donated three bighas of his land to facilitate the construction of a new hospital in the village. The move has been widely appreciated, and the farmer is set to be formally honored for his contribution.
Hospital Expansion Need
The existing hospital in the village, constructed 30 years ago, had become too small to accommodate the growing number of patients. During an inspection, Collector Swapnil Vankhere engaged with the villagers and discussed the urgent need for hospital expansion. He pointed out that the lack of available land was a major obstacle for any new construction.
Collector Appeals to Villagers
Addressing the villagers near the hospital, Collector Vankhere appealed for land donations to make the expansion possible. Moved by the appeal, one local farmer immediately volunteered to donate two to three bighas of land. The farmer also expressed willingness to provide additional land along the roadside if needed and mentioned that his family had previously contributed land for the construction of other public facilities such as schools and the original hospital.
Recognition and Appreciation
Collector Vankhere instructed officials to prepare a formal donation deed and organize a local ceremony to honor the farmer. He also announced that he would personally attend the event.
Impact on the Community
Once the land donation process is completed, construction of the new hospital will begin. The facility will greatly benefit the local population, especially women, who will no longer need to travel outside the village for delivery and other medical services. The Collector shared a video of his conversation with the generous farmer, highlighting the spirit of community support and civic responsibility.
