CHANDIGARH: Faridkot was the coldest place in Punjab on Saturday, recording a minimum temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius, as the state, along with neighbouring Haryana, experienced severe cold conditions.
The common capital, Chandigarh, woke up to a thick blanket of fog, with the minimum temperature settling at 7.7 degrees Celsius, a local weather official said.
Fog was reported in several other locations across Punjab, including Amritsar, Patiala and Ludhiana, while Haryana witnessed similar conditions in Ambala, Karnal and Hisar, the official added.
Authorities have advised residents, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against the chilly weather and early morning fog, which could also disrupt road visibility.
