Faridabad, Haryana: A disturbing case of alleged animal cruelty has emerged from a society in Sector-23, Faridabad, where a German Shepherd dog is reportedly being kept tied in a balcony around the clock. Dog lovers have approached the People for Animals (PFA) for intervention, while authorities have promised action after verification.
According to residents, a small German Shepherd, aged approximately 4–5 years, has been confined to the balcony of a flat for nearly a year. The dog is reportedly left outside regardless of weather conditions—be it scorching sun, extreme cold, or heavy rain—and is never taken for walks or allowed to roam freely. Food is provided through a small window, and the owner is rarely seen interacting with the animal.
Condition of the Dog
Local dog lovers report that the dog appears weak, both physically and mentally, and is under constant stress due to the prolonged confinement. During recent cold and rainy conditions, the dog was left outside in the balcony, worsening its health. The residents fear that without timely intervention, the animal’s life could be in serious danger.
Dog lovers have stated that they are willing to adopt and care for the dog if the owner relinquishes it, emphasizing that the animal suffers from hunger and thirst while tied in the balcony. They shared a video of the situation on social media, urging the PFA and the municipal authorities to take immediate action.
Authorities Respond
The PFA’s Vrinda unit confirmed that the video will first be investigated. A team will assess whether the dog is indeed being kept tied 24/7, and further action will be taken once the evidence is verified. Meanwhile, Municipal Corporation MOS Nitish Parwal stated that the municipal authorities do not have jurisdiction to act in this matter directly.
