Faridabad Builder Arrested in Noida Engineer Yuvraj Mehta Death Case; Police File Second FIR

Police have arrested two directors of real estate company Lotus Green Construction Private Limited—Ravi Bansal and Sachin Karnwal—in connection with the death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in Sector-150, Greater Noida. Ravi Bansal is a resident of Faridabad, while Sachin Karnwal lives in Shalimar Garden Extension-2, Ghaziabad. In addition, the police have filed another FIR against the builders and sealed two of their offices in Noida.

The arrests were made on Thursday under the first FIR registered at Knowledge Park Police Station on January 18. Earlier, Abhay Kumar, director of Vistown Planners Private Limited, had also been arrested in connection with the case.

According to police, the builders had dug a deep pit in the plot without implementing any safety measures. The pit had filled with water, and Yuvraj Mehta’s car accidentally fell into it, resulting in his death by drowning. Police also sealed the office of the absconding accused, Nirmal Singh, located on the sixth floor of Plot No. 18, Sector-126, Noida, and evacuated the staff.

New FIR and Allegations

During inspections on January 20, police discovered another large and deep pit in Sector-150, which was causing environmental pollution and lacked safety arrangements. Investigations revealed that the plot had been allocated to Lotus Green Construction Private Limited in 2024, and prior to that, it had been purchased by Vistown in 2020.

Based on these findings, the police have registered a second FIR under the Environment Protection Act, 1986, and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, among other sections, against Abhay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Manish Kumar, Anchal Bohra, and Nirmal Kumar.

The first FIR, filed following a complaint by Yuvraj Mehta’s father on January 18, involved charges of negligence, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and endangering human life against MZ Vistown Planners and Lotus Green.

SIT Investigation Ongoing

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has sought detailed reports from the Civil, Project, and Traffic Wings of the Noida Authority regarding all construction activities in Sector-150, focusing especially on development in the vicinity of the accident site.

Police continue their investigation to ensure accountability of all parties involved in the unsafe construction that led to Yuvraj Mehta’s tragic death.
