Family Opposed to Love Marriage, Bank Employee Abducted by Parents in Mathura; Rescued by Police

Mathura: In a shocking incident highlighting family opposition to love marriages, a woman bank employee was allegedly abducted, assaulted, and threatened by her own family members in Mathura. The victim, Priyanka, was later rescued safely from Rajasthan after her husband alerted the police.

Priyanka, who works as a bank employee in Mathura, had married her colleague Ravindra Singh four years ago against the wishes of her family. Since then, her parents and siblings had reportedly been pressuring her to abandon her husband.

Abducted from Outside Bank Branch

According to Priyanka’s complaint, the incident occurred on January 8, when she was abducted from outside her bank branch. She alleged that her father and brother forcibly took her away and transported her to Rajasthan.

“On the way, I was beaten, abused, and threatened with death,” Priyanka told the police. She further stated that she was taken to her native village, where she was confined against her will and repeatedly threatened.

Husband Reaches with Police, Woman Rescued

Priyanka’s husband, Ravindra Singh, approached the Mathura police after losing contact with her. Acting swiftly, the police traced her location in Rajasthan. Ravindra accompanied the police team, which successfully rescued Priyanka and brought her back safely to Mathura.

Following her rescue, Priyanka lodged a formal complaint at the Kotwali police station, accusing her parents and siblings of abduction, assault, and illegal confinement.

Fear for Life, Seeks Police Protection

Priyanka expressed gratitude to the Mathura police for their prompt action. She stated that both she and her husband are under constant threat from her family members and have received repeated death threats.

“I fear for my life. My family is not ready to accept my marriage and wants to separate us at any cost,” she said.

Both Husband and Wife Are Bank Employees

Priyanka is originally from Banaskantha district in Gujarat. She is currently posted at the Bhuteshwar branch in Mathura, while her husband Ravindra Singh works at the Kosi Kalan branch. The couple’s love marriage remains the sole reason for the family’s hostility, police sources said.

Police have initiated further legal proceedings based on Priyanka’s complaint and are assessing the need for protection to the couple.
