Family Feud Turns Deadly: Three Killed in Poisoned Sweets Plot in Chhindwara

Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh: A shocking case of premeditated murder has come to light in Junnardev, Chhindwara, where three people lost their lives after consuming sweets laced with deadly poison. Police investigations revealed that the poisonous sweets were deliberately prepared by the in-laws of the bride, targeting her in a deadly revenge plot.

The accused—bride’s father-in-law Jhaadu Kasar, brother-in-law Shubham Kasar, and sister-in-law Shivani Kasar—allegedly hatched the plan after being aggrieved by the bride, Khushboo, staying at her parental home following her love marriage with Akhilesh Kasar. To eliminate her, they mixed a lethal veterinary drug, typically used to protect horses from cold, into sweets and placed them where Khushboo and her acquaintances could access them.

The tragedy began on 8 January 2026, when an unclaimed bag of sweets and snacks was found hanging at the gate of the Junnardev PHE office. The first victim, security guard Dasharu Yaduvanshi, consumed the sweets and died instantly. Later, Mukesh Kathuria and his family also consumed them, resulting in the deaths of Mukesh’s father-in-law Sundarlal and daughter Khushboo.

Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Ajay Pandey and ASP Ashish Khare, the police meticulously traced the chain of evidence, leading to the arrest of all three accused. Cases have been registered against them under the stringent sections of the new Indian Penal Code (BNS) for murder and conspiracy.

The incident highlights a chilling example of familial hatred escalating into premeditated violence, tragically claiming the lives of innocent bystanders along with the intended target.
