Fake ‘Liv-52’ Drugs Sold in Ghaziabad; Himalaya Wellness Files FIR

Ghaziabad: A major case of counterfeit medicines has come to light in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Fake versions of the popular Ayurvedic drug Liv-52 were being sold in the market, prompting Himalaya Wellness Company to file a formal complaint with the Muradabad police.

Fraudulent Scheme Revealed
Investigation has revealed that the accused, Mukesh Kumar, proprietor of M.P. Trading, allegedly ran the entire operation with sophisticated deception. Kumar reportedly obtained a GST number using a fake address in Adarsh Colony, Muradnagar, while securing a medical store license from Hapur district. Physical verification revealed that no such firm exists at the stated address.

Authorities suggest that influential individuals may be involved, and preliminary investigations indicate that millions of rupees were circulated through bank accounts linked to the scheme.

How the Fraud Was Discovered
The scam came to light when a trader in Aligarh received a supply of “Liv-52 DS.” The buyer noticed discrepancies in packaging and product quality and reported it to Himalaya Wellness. Subsequent verification by company representative Lalit Kumar confirmed that the medicines were entirely counterfeit and had not been manufactured by Himalaya Wellness.

Police Action
The police have registered a case against the accused under sections related to fraud, fabrication of documents, and various provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetic Act. Authorities believe the gang still possesses a large stock of counterfeit medicines ready for distribution. Investigations are ongoing, and police are actively searching for the main operatives behind the syndicate.
