Extreme Act of Obsession in Ranchi: Woman Shot in the Chest Over Love Affair, Accused Records Video Claiming Betrayal

In a shocking incident that has sent waves of outrage across Jharkhand, a man allegedly shot a young woman in the chest in broad daylight in the Khalari area near Ranchi, reportedly driven by anger and obsession stemming from a failed love affair. After the attack, the accused recorded a video message accusing the victim of betrayal before attempting to take his own life.

According to Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, the incident occurred around 9:15 am on Friday near the KDH Ground. As the woman stepped out of her house, the 35-year-old accused intercepted her on the road and fired a bullet directly at her chest. The woman collapsed on the spot, bleeding profusely.

Love Affair Turns Deadly

Preliminary police investigations suggest that the crime was fueled by emotional distress and one-sided resentment. The accused and the victim were residents of the same locality and had reportedly been in a relationship for nearly six years. However, tensions escalated after the woman’s marriage was fixed elsewhere, which allegedly pushed the accused into a state of extreme rage.

Police believe the attack was premeditated, carried out with the intent to kill.

Family Links and Background

The accused’s family hails from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh but has been residing in the KDH Colony area of Khalari. Notably, the accused’s brother and the victim’s father are both employed with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), adding another sensitive dimension to the case.

Video Message After the Crime

After shooting the woman, the accused fled the scene and returned home, where he recorded a video message lasting nearly ten minutes. In the video, he alleged that the woman had deceived him and expressed his frustration and emotional turmoil. Investigators say the video indicates that the act was deliberate and carefully planned. Shortly after recording the message, the accused reportedly shot himself.

Victim in Critical Condition

Local residents rushed the injured woman to a nearby hospital immediately after the incident. Due to the severity of the gunshot wound, doctors referred her to a higher medical center in Ranchi. Her condition remains critical, and she is undergoing intensive treatment.

Police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter and are examining the video evidence, weapon used, and sequence of events. The incident has reignited serious concerns over violent crimes linked to obsession, emotional instability, and gender-based violence in the region.
