Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh: In a case that has sent ripples through local politics, Vinod Malviya, former chairperson of the Parasia Municipal Council and recently expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was arrested late last night by Chandameta police. Malviya faces multiple allegations, including harassment of women, unauthorized recording of private conversations, and demanding commissions from contractors.

Allegations of Misconduct and Privacy Violations

Police sources stated that complaints were lodged against Malviya for inappropriate behavior toward women and recording their private conversations without consent. Following the complaints, investigations were initiated, and technical evidence was collected under the Information Technology Act provisions. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, police carried out the arrest discreetly, noting that Malviya had been avoiding police scrutiny for some time.

Viral Audio of Alleged Commission Demand

The controversy intensified when an audio clip purportedly capturing Malviya demanding a commission from a contractor went viral on social media. The clip sparked strong reactions in both political and social circles. Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the recording.

BJP Expels Malviya for Six Years

As allegations surfaced, the BJP faced mounting political pressure. To safeguard its image, the party expelled Vinod Malviya for six years, citing his conduct as against party discipline and organizational decorum.

Medical Examination and Court Appearance

Chandameta Police Inspector Khelchand Patle confirmed that Malviya underwent a medical examination following his arrest and will be presented before the court on Wednesday. Authorities may seek police remand for further investigation into digital devices and other evidence.

Political Turmoil in Parasia

The arrest has created a heated political environment in Parasia. Opposition parties have demanded strict action, while citizens have expressed outrage. Police have assured that the investigation will proceed impartially, relying strictly on evidence. The case may see further developments in the coming days.
