Eta, Uttar Pradesh: A village in Eta, Gadhiya Suhagpur, is reeling from shock after a young couple, Shivani (20) and her boyfriend Deepak (25), were brutally beaten to death by the girl’s family on Sunday evening. Police have taken several members of Shivani’s family into custody for questioning.
According to authorities, Deepak visited Shivani at her home around 8:30 PM. Her family reportedly found the couple in a compromising situation on the terrace, which led them to attack the pair with sticks and sharp weapons. Deepak died on the spot, while Shivani was critically injured and later succumbed to her injuries at Eta Medical College.
The couple had been in a long-term relationship, police said. No formal complaint has yet been filed by any side. Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and a forensic team has been called in to collect evidence.
Eta SSP Singh visited the site and the medical college, and additional police forces have been deployed in the village as a precaution. Police teams are investigating all aspects of the incident, and further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem reports, collected evidence, and ongoing inquiry.
The incident has left the village in stunned silence, reflecting the community’s shock at the brutal double murder.
