Elderly Man Commits Suicide by Train in Banda; Dogs Drag Severed Hand, Police Investigate

A tragic incident unfolded in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, where a 60-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Shockingly, dogs dragged his severed hand nearly half a kilometer before it was discovered by local laborers, who immediately informed the police.

According to reports, the deceased, Ramdas Raikwar, son of Dashrath Raikwar and resident of the CMO Office Government Colony, left home in the morning without informing anyone. Moments later, he was hit by the Barouni Express near Avanti Nagar locality, resulting in fatal injuries. His body was severed into two parts, with one hand separated and dragged away by dogs.

Laborers spotted the hand along the roadside, realizing something was amiss, and alerted authorities. The police team, upon reaching the site, began a search around the railway tracks. The dismembered body of Ramdas Raikwar was recovered a short distance away. Using a mobile phone found at the scene, police contacted the family, who confirmed the identity of the deceased.

Ramdas’s son, Brijesh Raikwar, stated that the family had attended a wedding the previous night. The following morning, Ramdas left home without notice, leading to the tragic incident. According to police, domestic disputes and mental stress may have contributed to his decision. Clothes, a jacket, innerwear, and shoes were found near the railway line at the scene.

Kotwali In-Charge Balram Singh confirmed that the incident appears to be a case of suicide stemming from domestic tensions. The police investigation is ongoing to determine all circumstances surrounding the death.
