Gwalior: Residents of an urban colony in Gwalior were startled in the middle of the night when a sudden surge of water erupted from the ground, turning the streets into rivers. The incident, captured in full on nearby CCTV cameras, initially caused panic among locals, who feared a natural disaster.
It was later revealed that a decades-old underground municipal pipeline had burst, releasing a massive flow of water. The Urban Green City area, where the incident occurred, witnessed streets and lanes being flooded as residents rushed out of their homes in shock.
The CCTV footage shows the area appearing completely normal one moment, followed by water gushing out of the ground within seconds. The sudden eruption created chaos, leaving people frightened and scrambling to safety.
Following the incident, the municipal corporation team promptly arrived at the site, shutting off the water supply and beginning repair work on the damaged pipeline. Authorities have assured residents that the pipeline will be fixed, but the event has raised serious questions about the city’s aging underground water infrastructure.
Experts and locals are now asking whether the municipal authorities were waiting for a larger disaster to strike, noting that the force of the water could have caused significant damage to homes and property.
