Raipur: DSP Kalpana Verma of Chhattisgarh Police may face serious consequences after an investigation revealed that she allegedly leaked sensitive information related to a Naxal operation. A viral chat containing the details has raised multiple questions within the police department. The findings have now been compiled into a comprehensive 1,480-page report submitted to the Police Headquarters.
According to the investigation, DSP Verma shared critical details of the operation, including the location of personnel, with businessman Deepak Tandon while he was in Dantewada. A complaint regarding the chat was filed at Khamhardih police station, after which ASP Kirtan Rathore conducted a detailed inquiry. The report has also mentioned the personal and financial relationship between Verma and Tandon.
Deepak Tandon had earlier accused DSP Verma of misappropriating money, vehicles, and hotels, and presented several private chat records and photographs as evidence. He claimed that Verma received jewelry, chains, and diamond rings from him, and even took control of a car registered in his wife’s name.
DSP Verma, however, denied the allegations, stating that attempts were being made to defame her and that the matter was related to a family business transaction that is currently in court.
Following ASP Rathore’s investigation, the 1,480-page report has been sent to the Police Headquarters, which will now decide the next course of action. DSP Kalpana Verma is currently posted in Dantewada.
