DSO Office Typist Found with Assets Worth ₹17 Crore Across Four Districts

Lucknow: In a massive vigilance crackdown, a typist from the District Supply Officer (DSO) office in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, has been found in possession of assets worth over ₹17 crore, far exceeding his declared income of just ₹1 crore. The discovery was made following raids across four districts, uncovering multiple properties, a brick kiln, and documents linked to 44 unaccounted assets. Investigations are ongoing, with further revelations expected.

Vigilance Action and Raids

The initial probe, conducted under government directives, revealed a stark discrepancy between the typist’s income and his amassed wealth. The Anti-Corruption Act case was recommended in the open inquiry report and approved by the government, which obtained search warrants from the court.

On Thursday, 24-member teams from the Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Headquarters, Gorakhpur Sector, carried out raids from 11 am to 5 pm across Bihar and Jharkhand, accompanied by eight independent witnesses and a jewelry valuer.

The raids first targeted the accused’s ancestral residence in Gulni Kushha, Banka (Bihar). The team recovered furniture worth ₹4.4 lakh, a computer, a bike, multiple bank passbooks, and checkbooks, which offered insights into his financial activities.

Properties Across Four Districts

The investigation revealed that, during his government service with an official income of only ₹1 crore, the accused, Gagan Kumar Singh, had accumulated assets worth over ₹17 crore.

  • Banka (rural area): House and warehouse valued at ₹4.29 crore
  • Banka (urban area): Residential property worth ₹1.70 crore
  • Bhagalpur: Flat valued at ₹34 lakh
  • Deoghar (Jharkhand): House worth ₹1.17 crore

Additionally, authorities recovered 44 property deeds for agricultural and residential land under his name or possession, indicating systematic accumulation of assets over several years across different states.

All documents and property records seized during the raids are now being examined as part of the ongoing investigation. The case is expected to uncover further financial irregularities, shedding light on the extent of illicit wealth amassed by the accused.
