
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh – 18 November 2025: In a shocking incident in Lucknow, a reckless driver dragged a traffic police officer for nearly 10 kilometers after refusing to stop for a routine check. The driver, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, narrowly avoided multiple collisions before being surrounded and apprehended by police.
The Incident
On 15 November, Constable Ranjit and TSI Ajay Kumar Awasthi were managing traffic at Shaheed Path Junction when a black Scorpio car without a number plate approached the junction around 12:45 PM. Upon instructing the driver to stop and present vehicle documents, the driver instead sped off towards Kamta, already carrying two passengers.
Police Officer Dragged Inside Moving Car
In a daring attempt to stop the car, Constable Ranjit climbed partially into the moving vehicle. However, the driver, later identified as Krishna Kumar Goswami of Sarojininagar, accelerated further, endangering multiple vehicles and creating chaos on the busy road.
Driver Surrounded and Apprehended
Constable Ranjit immediately informed TSI Awasthi and traffic control. The TRB-3 team quickly mobilized and managed to surround the vehicle near Sevai Police Chowki, arresting the driver. During interrogation, Krishna Kumar admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the incident.
Legal Action Initiated
An FIR has been registered under Sections 221, 223(b), and 127(2) of the BNS Act for obstructing government work. The police have confirmed that all necessary legal actions are underway against the accused.
