Gorakhpur: The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed Dr. Kaustubh as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Gorakhpur. The transfer list, released late Wednesday night, also includes the posting of the outgoing SSP, Rajkaran Nair, to Ghaziabad.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Kaustubh served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Jaunpur since 2024. An experienced IPS officer of the 2012 batch, he has previously held key positions in Ambedkar Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Varanasi, and Sonbhadra. He has also served as SP City in Gorakhpur earlier in his career.
Background and Education
Originally from Patna, Bihar, Dr. Kaustubh completed his early education in Adilabad, Telangana. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from Osmania University with 52% marks and subsequently completed his MBBS.
Awards and Recognitions
Dr. Kaustubh has been recognized for his exemplary service. He received the DGS Commendation Disc (Silver) in 2021 and a Gold award in 2023.
The recent IPS officer transfer list also includes other significant postings: ADG Zone Sujit Pandey has been assigned the Fire Service command, IG (Rural) Praveen Kumar has been appointed ADG Zone Lucknow, and SSP positions in 11 districts have been reshuffled. Saharanpur SSP DIG Ashish Tiwari has been moved to Technical Services in Lucknow, Pratap Gopendra Yadav to DIG UP Police Headquarters, and Kunwar Vikram Singh has been posted as SSP Jaunpur.
Dr. Kaustubh’s appointment is seen as part of the ongoing efforts by the UP government to strengthen law and order in key districts of the state.
