Haldwani, Feb 12, 2026: A gruesome double murder at the Galla Mandi in Haldwani sent shockwaves through the city on Thursday morning. A young man and woman were found brutally killed, reportedly beaten to death with stones.
Workers and traders arriving at the market in the morning were the first to discover the lifeless bodies and immediately informed the police. A large crowd soon gathered at the crime scene, forcing the authorities to take strict measures to control the situation. The local police sealed off the area for investigation.
CCTV Footage Under Review
SP City Manoj Katyal stated that the identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the Galla Mandi premises and nearby areas, along with missing persons reports from local police stations. A few ID cards were recovered from the victims, which may help in establishing their identities. The motive behind the crime will likely be clearer once the victims are identified.
Police Appeal to Locals for Information
The bodies have been taken for post-mortem examination. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to apprehend the perpetrator(s).
