New Delhi: DNA tests have confirmed that Dr. Umar Un Nabi, who died in the Red Fort blast, was the suicide bomber behind the attack. Further investigation has revealed a chilling plan: Umar had intended to carry out a major attack around the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, with Ayodhya also being a potential target.
Blast Details and Identification:
Dr. Umar, 28, from Pulwama in South Kashmir, was involved in the car explosion near the Red Fort that claimed 12 lives. His DNA was matched 100% with samples from his mother, confirming his identity. Umar was part of a terrorist module spanning Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Planning and Execution:
Authorities say Umar and his module had planned a large-scale attack involving multiple vehicles fitted with IEDs, followed by an assault with rifles. Three vehicles were reportedly procured for this mission: an i20 (used in the blast), a red Ford EcoSport, and a Brezza. The EcoSport, with Delhi registration 0458, was recovered in Faridabad, while the Brezza is still being traced.
International Links and Material Preparation:
Investigations suggest the plot was conceived in Turkey in 2022 under the guidance of a handler codenamed “Ukasa.” The conspirators had planned to use a mixture of ammonium nitrate and RDX for the attacks and had already procured the explosives. The planned attacks in Ayodhya were timed for November 25, coinciding with the unfurling of the saffron flag at the Ram Temple.
Government Response:
Following the blast, Home Minister Amit Shah convened high-level meetings with security agencies, directing them to track down every individual involved. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also communicated with the Home Minister from Bhutan, while President Draupadi Murmu sought detailed updates from Shah. Authorities have assured the public that all those responsible will face the full force of law enforcement agencies.
Ongoing Investigation:
Security agencies continue to investigate the module, interrogating arrested members and the families of the suspects. The probe aims to uncover the full network behind the attack and prevent any further incidents.
