Jaipur, Rajasthan: Today, Diya Kumari, the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and a scion of the Jaipur royal family, celebrates her birthday. Leaving behind the comforts of royal palaces, she chose the challenging path of politics, carving a niche for herself in the state’s political landscape. Since entering politics in 2013, Diya Kumari has flown the flag of victory from Sawai Madhopur to Rajsamand, and now Vidyadhar Nagar, becoming not just a leader, but a symbol of empowerment for half of Rajasthan’s population.
Royal Heritage Meets Modern Vision:
The only child of former Jaipur Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh and Padmini Devi, Diya Kumari received education both in India and London. Her deep appreciation for art and culture has always kept her connected to the public. In 2013, a turning point arrived when she formally joined the BJP in the presence of then-Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking the beginning of her political journey.
A Formidable Political Warrior:
Diya Kumari’s political trajectory reads like an inspiring story. She won her first election in Sawai Madhopur (2013) with a significant margin, proving she was more than a “princess”—she was a committed public servant. Her historic 5.51 lakh vote victory from Rajsamand in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections established her as a major political force at the national level. Her overwhelming victory from Vidyadhar Nagar in the 2023 assembly elections paved the way for her appointment as Deputy Chief Minister.
Shaping Rajasthan’s Future as Finance Minister:
Currently serving as Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Diya Kumari is steering Rajasthan’s economy toward growth. From launching schemes like ‘Lado Prerna Yojana’ for women to promoting tourism globally, her vision is clear. Today, birthday greetings are pouring in from across the state.
Known for her simplicity, poise, and decisive leadership, Diya Kumari’s journey exemplifies how a legacy of royalty can be transformed into public trust and political influence through dedication and hard work.
