From early morning, pilgrims from across India thronged Har Ki Pauri and other major ghats, including Brahmakund, Malviya Ghat, and Subhash Ghat. The chants of “Har-Har Gange” resonated throughout the city, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere.

Pilgrims from Five States Participate in Rituals:
Devotees from Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan participated in lamp-lighting ceremonies (Deepdan) at Har Ki Pauri. Many performed prayers, rituals, and charitable acts following their holy bath in the river.

Religious Significance of Magh Purnima:
Pandit Manoj Tripathi explained that, according to religious beliefs, all deities descend to Earth during the month of Magh and take a ritual bath at sacred sites like Haridwar and Prayagraj. Bathing in the Ganga on this day is considered highly auspicious, believed to cleanse sins and fulfill devotees’ wishes.

Shraddh and Tarpan for Ancestors:
Many families performed Shraddh and Tarpan rites for their ancestors. Devotees believe that taking a holy dip on Magh Purnima washes away sins, brings prosperity, and ultimately leads to spiritual liberation (Moksha).
