Deoria Cricket Match: “Man of the Match” Awarded a Live Desi Chicken, Players Delighted

Deoria: In an unusual twist at the Mahuwari Premier League held in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, the “Man of the Match” award turned heads — not for a trophy or cash prize, but for a live desi chicken. The unconventional reward brought laughter and joy to players and spectators alike, making the occasion truly memorable.

The week-long cricket series took place at Janata Higher Secondary School Ground in Pathardeva town, featuring 16 prominent teams from across the region. Crowds gathered enthusiastically to witness the competition.

At the closing ceremony, instead of the traditional shield, trophy, or cash prize, the organizers handed over a live desi chicken to the player declared Man of the Match. Initially, both the audience and players were surprised, but soon laughter and cheer filled the ground. The victorious team was overjoyed, joking that while they may not have won money, they certainly won a feast. The quirky prize has already become a hot topic locally, and a video of the moment has gone viral on social media.

Organizer’s Perspective:
Pradyumn Pandey, one of the event organizers, explained, “Players often ask me for a feast. So instead of a regular trophy or cash prize, I thought awarding a live desi chicken would fulfill their wish and make the award memorable. It was a way to celebrate their victory in a fun and unique manner.”

The one-of-a-kind prize was widely appreciated, and locals have praised the creativity behind this unusual gesture.
