Deoband’s Maulana Qasim Nomani Calls Madrasas “Powerhouse of Society” at Meerut Jalsa

Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: At the 106th Annual Jalsa held at Machhra Jamia Gulzar-e-Hussainia Azrada, Maulana Mufti Abdul Qasim Nomani, the esteemed Muhtamim of Darul Uloom Deoband, described madrasas as the “powerhouse of society”, emphasizing their pivotal role in spreading knowledge and shaping communities.

Addressing the third session of the jalsa, Maulana Nomani said, “Madrasas are the powerhouse of society, emanating the light of knowledge that reaches every household. The dedication and sacrifice of the ulemas have established these institutions, which continue to strengthen the foundations of education, culture, and Islamic civilization.” He urged people to pursue education and live life in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah.

Madrasas: Beyond Just Learning Centers

The event’s chief organizer, Muallim Maulana Abdullah Mugisi, highlighted that madrasas are not merely centers of education but also schools of character and morality. He noted that the annual jalsa has been a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity for nearly a century, promoting humanity and brotherhood throughout the region.

Senior Ustad Khalid Faisal from Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema, Lucknow, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing that regularity in prayers and Quranic education provides discipline, peace, and guidance in life.

Maulana Mufti Abdul Qasim Nomani is the renowned Muhtamim and Sheikh al-Hadith of Darul Uloom Deoband.
