Dense Fog Turns Fatal in Kaushambi: Biker Couple Killed After Crashing Into Tree

Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh: Dense fog claimed two lives in Kaushambi district on Friday night when a motorcycle carrying a husband and wife skidded off the road and rammed into a tree, killing both on the spot. Poor visibility due to heavy fog is believed to be the primary cause of the tragic accident.

The incident occurred near Samsapur village under the Chail police station limits. The victims, Ajay Kumar and his wife Radha Devi, residents of Puramuffti area in Prayagraj, were returning from a family function when the accident took place.

According to police, the couple had attended a ceremony in Sirsi village of Chail earlier in the evening and were heading late at night towards Radha Devi’s parental home in Mitwapur. Around 9 pm, as they approached Samsapur village, the motorcycle reportedly went out of control due to extremely low visibility caused by fog and collided with a roadside tree. Both sustained fatal head injuries and died instantly.

Tragedy Unfolds Before Family Members

Radha Devi’s mother and brother, who were riding another motorcycle ahead of them, heard the sound of the crash and rushed back to the spot. By the time they reached, both Ajay and Radha had already succumbed to their injuries. The grieving family broke down at the scene, drawing nearby villagers who alerted the police.

Police reached the spot soon after, took custody of the bodies, and initiated legal formalities.

Chail Station House Officer Mahesh Chandra said that preliminary investigation suggests the accident occurred due to poor visibility caused by fog and cold weather conditions. Further investigation is underway.

The incident once again highlights the deadly risks posed by winter fog on highways and rural roads across the region.
