Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Residents of Uttarakhand are experiencing a chillier phase as frost covers the hills and light fog spreads across the plains. The current dry weather conditions are expected to continue over the next few days, according to the Meteorological Centre.
Fog and Frost Creating Challenges
In the plains, especially areas like Dehradun, light fog is reducing visibility and causing inconvenience for commuters. Meanwhile, in hilly regions, frost has settled on roads, intensifying the cold. This icy layer on roads can be particularly slippery for vehicles, increasing the risk of accidents.
Temperature Details
The Meteorological Centre predicts Dehradun to record a maximum of 24°C and a minimum of 9°C today. While daytime temperatures remain moderate, the cold is being felt even during the day due to falling mercury levels.
Impact on Daily Life
The frost in mountainous areas is persistent as sunlight struggles to reach certain roads, leaving icy patches throughout the day. In contrast, the plains are witnessing dense fog, which may cause slow traffic and reduced visibility for travelers. Residents are advised to exercise caution while driving and to dress warmly to cope with the chill.
Weather Forecast
The dry spell is expected to continue across the state for the next few days. Meteorologists have also warned that nighttime temperatures may rise slightly by 1–2°C, but daytime temperatures are likely to drop, meaning that the cold will intensify during the day. Residents are advised to remain alert to the effects of frost in hilly regions and fog in the plains.
