
New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Mehrauli, Delhi, a local transport businessman was brutally attacked for intervening against harassment of women. The incident occurred just days after the high-profile case of businessman Shivam Gupta’s assault.
Details of the Incident
According to the Delhi Police, businessman Mukesh witnessed four men harassing three women near a tea stall on IGNOU Road while returning from a family wedding at Sangam Vihar. When he intervened, the men assaulted him with kicks, punches, sticks, and stones, leaving him critically injured. Several viral videos show Mukesh being beaten even after collapsing, with one assailant attempting to strike him with a brick before a bystander intervened.
Medical Attention
Mukesh was first admitted to Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital and later referred to AIIMS Trauma Centre due to the severity of his injuries.
Police Action
The police registered a case under the Indian Penal Code, including:
- Section 110: Attempt to murder
- Section 79: Acts affecting the dignity of women
- Section 126(2): Obstruction by wrongful means
- Section 3(5): Criminal conspiracy
All four suspects—Vishal Rawat, Jatin (20), Sonu (25), and Vivek (20)—have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
