Delhi to Open 81 New Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Total Centers to Cross 300

In a major push to strengthen primary healthcare, Delhi is set to inaugurate 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs on Wednesday, taking the total number of centers in the city to 319. These centers will offer free medical consultations, medicines, and diagnostic tests, among other healthcare services, easing the burden on larger hospitals.

Since the BJP government came to power in Delhi, treatment has been ongoing at 238 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. With the addition of these 81 centers, the government aims to expand access even further, with a long-term plan to establish 1,100 such clinics across the capital.

Each Ayushman Arogya Mandir provides a comprehensive range of services, including consultations with doctors, essential medicines, diagnostic tests, diabetes and hypertension screening, cancer screening, maternal and child healthcare, free immunization, growth monitoring, lifestyle counseling, mental health services, and guidance on yoga and nutrition.

The government expects that this expansion will significantly reduce pressure on larger hospitals. Additionally, emergency and specialized treatments are being scaled up through the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Vay Vandana Yojana (AB-VVY) for senior citizens.

As of 13 January 2026, the Delhi Health Department has issued a total of 6,91,530 health cards under these schemes, including 2,65,895 cards for senior citizens under the Vay Vandana Yojana. Beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment at any of the 189 hospitals empaneled under the program, covering secondary and tertiary care.

According to the Delhi government, the Ayushman Bharat program has settled claims worth ₹36,31,07,621 so far under the supervision of the State Health Agency (SHA). Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are rapidly transforming the delivery of primary healthcare across the city, ensuring that medical care, medicines, and diagnostic tests remain completely free and accessible close to where people live.
