
New Delhi: A shocking incident unfolded in Krishna Nagar, Delhi, when a shopkeeper was violently attacked inside his own store and threatened with a knife. The audacious assault took place in broad daylight at Lal Quarter Market, police said. The accused is reportedly known to the victim’s wife, suggesting the attack was motivated by personal grievances. Krishna Nagar police have registered a case under relevant sections following the victim’s complaint.
Details of the Attack
The 42-year-old victim runs a cosmetics shop in Lal Quarter Market. On the morning of 8 February, around 11:30 AM, Mohit Naulakha, a resident of Palwal, Haryana, barged into the shop and began punching the shopkeeper. He also destroyed a laptop and scattered the shop’s inventory. During the assault, the accused held a knife to the victim’s neck, threatening to kill him if he did not proceed with his divorce and withdraw a pending case against him. Witnesses say the assailant also verbally abused the victim throughout the attack.
Background: Marital Dispute
Police said the incident appears to be linked to ongoing marital discord. The victim has a pending divorce case against his wife in the Gurgaon court, and he claims to have presented solid evidence in court showing a relationship between his wife and the accused, Mohit Naulakha. This personal enmity is believed to have triggered the violent attack.
Victim’s Condition
The victim was immediately taken to Headgear Hospital and later referred to GTB Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. The medical report (MLC) noted deep cuts and scratches on his face, neck, and chest, along with damage affecting his hearing. Police have registered a case for voluntarily causing hurt and intimidation.
