Ghaziabad: Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari has strongly criticized the central government over the worsening air pollution in Delhi, calling for a parliamentary discussion on the issue. He stated that the city’s air quality has deteriorated drastically, reducing visibility to just 100–200 meters and making breathing difficult. The common people are suffering immensely due to the hazardous environment, yet the government appears unwilling to take meaningful action.
Call for Accountability
Ansari emphasized that every elected parliamentarian has the right to voice concerns on critical issues. He accused the government of avoiding discussion on this urgent problem and diverting public attention toward religious matters. Speaking on the last day of the parliamentary session, he said, “The government should have conducted a debate and taken steps to address this pressing issue. Instead, they are shirking responsibility.”
A Scathing Remark on International Attention
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, Ansari sarcastically remarked, “Our guest, Mr. Putin, came to India and left coughing due to the air. We are on track to win the title of the most polluted city in the world. Is this how we aim to become a global leader? The government should be ashamed.”
Ansari’s comments underline growing public concern over Delhi’s air quality and the urgent need for government intervention to address one of the country’s most critical environmental crises.
