Delhi Politics: AAP Leaders Pre-Empt Health Minister, Open Ayushman Arogya Mandir

New Delhi, January 14, 2026: In an unusual turn of events in Delhi politics, leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) inaugurated the newly constructed Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Sundar Nagri Ward before the Delhi Health Minister could do so.

The Rehka Gupta-led Delhi government had prepared the Ayushman Arogya Mandir and was planning an official inauguration. However, on Tuesday, AAP MLA Veer Singh Dhingan and local municipal councillor Mohini Jeenwal stepped in and conducted the opening ceremony themselves.

AAP Leaders Accuse Government of Misrepresentation
Explaining their decision, MLA Veer Singh Dhingan and Councillor Mohini Jeenwal claimed that the Delhi government was merely refurbishing old dispensaries and presenting them as new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to create a false impression among the public.

Councillor Jeenwal alleged that the renovation amounted to a multi-crore scam. “This dispensary was originally built during AAP’s previous government in our ward. Now the government is repainting it and claiming it as their own achievement, misleading the people,” she said.

Health Minister’s Planned Visit Pre-Empted
Jeenwal further explained that upon learning that the Delhi Health Minister was scheduled to inaugurate the Arogya Mandir, she coordinated with MLA Veer Singh Dhingan to pre-empt the ceremony and perform the inauguration themselves. The move has sparked political debate over credit-taking and public perception in Delhi.
