Delhi Police to Take Gangster Anmol Bishnoi on Remand, Plan Voice Sample Analysis

New Delhi: Delhi Police are planning to take gangster Anmol Bishnoi, brother of notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, on production remand in connection with extortion and firing cases. Authorities also intend to collect his voice sample for forensic analysis to confirm if he was behind threatening calls. Anmol is currently on remand with the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Background of the Case
Anmol, deported from the United States on 19 November, has been under NIA custody for 11 days. Police revealed that an international number sent threatening voice messages to a resident of Hari Nagar Ashram, Siddharth Enclave, on 23–24 March 2023, demanding a ransom of ₹2 crore in Lawrence Bishnoi’s name. When the money was not paid, two masked men fired five rounds outside the victim’s house on 23 April 2023, prompting FIRs for extortion and firing at Sunlight Colony Police Station.

Role of Minors and Investigations
During the investigation, the Crime Branch apprehended two minor shooters from Rajasthan, aged 16 and 17, who admitted to carrying out the firing under Anmol’s orders. Police officials stated that Anmol is the main conspirator in these cases.

Future Plans for Remand and Interrogation
Once NIA concludes its questioning, Delhi Police will move the court to take Anmol on production remand for further interrogation. He is currently wanted in cases across Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The Crime Branch aims to question him in their cases first while he is in Delhi.

Voice Sample Collection and Forensic Verification
The Crime Branch possesses recordings of extortion calls. They plan to match these recordings with Anmol’s voice sample at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to confirm his involvement.

Probing Weapons and Network Details
Investigators will also question Anmol about how the minor shooters were provided with weapons and money, the identity of the person whose contact details were used to make extortion calls, and how jailed criminal Sampat Nehra allegedly coordinated the attacks.

Significance for Related Cases
Police officials believe that the phone and SIM used for the extortion and WhatsApp calls are crucial evidence for building the “Water Tight” case against him. The Special Cell will also take him on production remand regarding the Arms Act case, which involves illegal weapons linked to the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, allegedly supplied by Anmol.
