New Delhi: In a major blow to international drug trafficking, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a key accused, Tilak, linked to a massive drug syndicate worth ₹13,000 crore. The arrest was made in Sikkim, where Tilak was hiding.
According to officials, Tilak played an active role in the syndicate, importing cannabis from Thailand and distributing it across various parts of India. Authorities believe his apprehension could reveal critical insights into the network’s international operations.
Police Question Accused for Further Leads
The Special Cell is currently interrogating Tilak to gather further information about the syndicate. Previously, on October 2, 2024, the Delhi Police conducted a major joint operation across Delhi, Gujarat, and Punjab, seizing cocaine and cannabis worth nearly ₹13,000 crore. That operation has been hailed as one of India’s largest drug busts to date, with over 15 suspects arrested so far. Investigations revealed that the network operates under a highly organized international syndicate with global connections.
Mastermind Remains Abroad
The alleged mastermind of the syndicate, Virendra Basoya, is currently outside India. A Red Corner Notice has been issued against his son, Rishabh Basoya, who is also believed to be abroad. International agencies are assisting Indian authorities in tracking him down.
What is a Red Corner Notice?
A Red Corner Notice is issued by Interpol to alert member countries about individuals wanted for prosecution who have fled abroad. It allows law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and detain the accused for extradition.
