Delhi Police Pledges to Make Capital Drug-Free by 2027

New Delhi, February 10, 2026: Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s campaign for a drug-free India, the Delhi Police has pledged to make the capital city drug-free by 2027. Under the supervision of Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, the force is working relentlessly through enforcement, awareness, and community engagement to curb the misuse of drugs.

Workshop with Education Directorate
As part of this initiative, the police, in collaboration with the Education Directorate, Delhi Government, organized a workshop-cum-awareness program on the misuse of drugs at the Adarsh Auditorium, Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road on Monday. Over 300 physical education teachers, instructors, and National Service Scheme (NSS) program officers from various schools participated in the session.

Reach Beyond the Venue
The program was live-streamed, enabling students and teachers from more than 1,000 government and private schools across Delhi to join online. The event began with a welcome speech by ACP Ranjay Atrishi, followed by formal introductions of participants by Special CP Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Joint CP Sanjay Tyagi, DCP Sanjeev Yadav, and other officials.

Educating and Alerting Teachers
During the workshop, Special CP Srivastava briefed teachers on the various types of drugs in circulation and their effects, urging vigilance and proactive engagement with students. He emphasized the importance of early awareness and intervention in preventing drug abuse. Delhi Police has previously conducted numerous awareness campaigns and workshops, and this program is part of a continuing effort to create a drug-free and safe environment for the city’s youth.
