New Delhi: Two shooters associated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, responsible for separate firing incidents in West Vihar and Vinod Nagar, were apprehended by Delhi Police following a tense encounter.
The suspects reportedly carried out a shooting at a gym in West Vihar before moving on to Vinod Nagar. Acting on intelligence that the shooters would travel via the Yamuna Pushta towards Hiran, the North District Narcotics Cell set up a trap late Monday night after 1 AM. When the police signaled the suspects to stop, they opened fire. During the exchange, a bullet struck a police officer’s bulletproof vest.
In the retaliatory action by the police, one of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, after which both were taken into custody. The accused were found in possession of two pistols with live cartridges and a scooter used in the incidents. Around 5–6 rounds of firing were exchanged between the two sides.
The North District Anti-Narcotics team is currently interrogating the suspects to gather more details about their operations and possible links with the gang.
