New Delhi: A wanted criminal, Satish Bhati, was arrested by Delhi Police and the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) following a brief shootout in Southeast Delhi on Saturday morning. According to police, Bhati opened fire as soon as he spotted the officers, but was apprehended shortly thereafter.
Police had set up a trap near MB Road based on a tip-off regarding Bhati, 22, who is wanted in multiple criminal cases. When officers attempted to stop him on Friday night, he allegedly tried to flee and fired at the police team. No injuries were reported among the police personnel.
During the operation, authorities recovered a locally made pistol, six mobile phones suspected to be stolen, and a motorcycle believed to have been used in criminal activities.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Bhati is a habitual offender, previously involved in snatching and robbery across different parts of the city. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.
