Delhi Police Arrest Gangster in Kabir Nagar Cafe Shooting Case After Encounter

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested Mohammad Moin Qureshi, accused of fatally shooting 24-year-old Faizan at ‘King Cafe’ in Kabir Nagar. The arrest followed an encounter in the Dheerpur-Timar Pur area on the morning of January 30. Qureshi was armed with a loaded semi-automatic pistol and sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the operation.

Crime and Confession on Instagram
On the night of January 23, Faizan, a resident of Welcome, was shot multiple times inside his cafe in the presence of witnesses. The next day, 23-year-old Qureshi posted a video on Instagram confessing to the murder before going underground and later deleting the post. CCTV footage and police investigation confirmed his identity, leading to a focused surveillance operation on Qureshi and his associates.

Encounter and Arrest
Police learned that Qureshi was planning to flee Delhi and would arrive near Dheerpur, ITI, Timarpur to collect money. When police asked him to surrender, he opened fire. In the return firing, Qureshi was injured and taken into custody.

Motive Behind the Murder
During interrogation, Qureshi revealed that he and Faizan were from the same locality. The dispute reportedly began over a loan of ₹30,000 that Faizan failed to repay. Qureshi alleged that Faizan insulted his father over the debt. Seeking revenge, Qureshi had armed himself and fired multiple rounds at Faizan inside the cafe.

Criminal Background
Qureshi had previously worked at a shop before turning to criminal activities. In 2025, he was arrested for scooter theft from Jama Masjid. After serving time in jail, he resumed illegal activities. DCP Amit Kaushik confirmed that Qureshi is a rising figure in organized crime, and his arrest is part of ongoing drives against gangsters and criminal syndicates in the city.
