Delhi on Traffic Alert for Next 7 Days: Major Jams Expected

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has issued a special traffic advisory warning residents of potential severe traffic congestion across the city for the next seven days. The advisory, effective from 19 November to 25 November, is in place due to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, which will see large gatherings and VVIP visits near Red Fort.

Advisory Timings and Diversions

The traffic diversions will be in effect daily from 4 PM to 11 PM. During these hours, buses and commercial vehicles coming from Chhata Rail Chowk and Delhi Gate towards Netaji Subhash Marg will be redirected via Ring Road from Chhata Rail Chowk, GPO Chowk, and Delhi Gate Chowk.

Reason for Diversion

Delhi Police has highlighted that the anniversary events are expected to attract large crowds and high-profile attendees, creating a potential risk of congestion near Red Fort. The diversions aim to ensure smoother traffic flow and public safety.

Alternative Routes for Commuters

Commuters are advised to avoid Netaji Subhash Marg, Ring Road (Rajghat to Chandgi Ram Akhada), Lothian Road, SPM Marg, and Boulevard Road. Recommended alternative routes include Pusta Road, Vikas Marg, Salimgarh Bypass, and Rani Jhansi Road.

Parking and Pedestrian Guidance

Authorities have arranged parking facilities near Chandni Chowk and Red Fort. Drivers are advised to park in designated parking areas rather than on roadside spaces. Pedestrians should use footpaths and designated crossings for safety.

Delhi Police urges all commuters to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the week-long observances.
