Red Fort to Remain Closed to Tourists Following Delhi Blast; ASI Issues Official Order

New Delhi: Following the recent car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, authorities have announced that the historic monument will remain closed to tourists from Tuesday to Thursday. Police have stated that allowing public access could interfere with the investigation and potentially compromise crucial evidence at the site.

Closure Details
Immediately after the incident, the police sealed an area of approximately 200 square meters around the Red Fort. Access to both traffic and pedestrians has been restricted, and multiple investigative agencies are currently collecting samples and evidence from the scene. Considering the sensitive nature of the case, authorities had anticipated the closure of the Red Fort as early as Monday night.

ASI Orders the Closure on Police Advice
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), under the supervision of the Delhi Circle Superintendent Archaeologist, issued the official closure order on Tuesday morning following a request from the Kotwali Police Station. An ASI official clarified that such decisions cannot be taken independently and must be made in consultation with law enforcement. The directive ensures that investigative work at the blast site remains uninterrupted.

Tourists are advised to plan visits accordingly as the Red Fort will remain inaccessible until further notice.
