Pre-Planned Murder, Not Blackmail: Family Rejects Theory in UPSC Student’s Killing

New Delhi: The family of UPSC aspirant Ramkesh Meena, who was brutally murdered in Delhi’s Gandhi Vihar (Timarpur) area, has broken its silence for the first time — dismissing the “blackmail” theory and calling the killing a well-planned conspiracy.

In an exclusive conversation with NBT, the family said that several media narratives surrounding the murder are misleading. “If blackmailing was really the motive, Amrita (the prime accused) had multiple chances to destroy or take away the so-called ‘hard disk’ well before the murder,” a family member said.

Family Claims Murder Was Pre-Planned

According to the family, Amrita had been with Ramkesh since October 4, a day before the murder. “If she wanted the hard disk, she could have easily stolen it anytime during those two days,” they said.
They also provided a detailed timeline: Ramkesh left for the local Shani Bazaar around 5:57 p.m. on the day of the incident to buy vegetables and returned home at 8:54 p.m. During that time, Amrita went downstairs at 7:22 p.m., and Ramkesh handed her the vegetables. She returned to the room at 7:58 p.m., and at that same time, the two accused — Sandeep and Sumit — were spotted near the building.

“Not About Hard Disk — It Was Murder”

The family alleges that this sequence of events clearly indicates a pre-planned murder, not a case of blackmail. “Both accused entered the room wearing caps and masks. Just four minutes after Ramkesh entered his room, the attack took place,” they said.
Amrita was later seen leaving with five bags. Police have since recovered the hard disk, but the laptop remains missing. Ramkesh was set on fire and killed on the night of October 5.

Police to Conduct Gait Analysis Test

According to DCP Raja Banthia, police are preparing to approach National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gujarat, next week to conduct a ‘Gait Analysis Test’ — a specialized forensic technique that could help confirm the suspects’ movements.

Every Step Under Scrutiny

In a gait analysis test, forensic experts closely study a person’s body movements, including walking style, head position, step length, arm motion, and foot placement, to identify their unique “walking signature.”

As investigations continue, the case that once seemed to hinge on a “blackmail theory” is now being viewed through a darker, more chilling lens — that of a cold-blooded, premeditated murder.
