In the aftermath of the Red Fort blast in Delhi, two bodies have been recovered that cannot be identified through facial recognition, necessitating DNA testing. The total death toll in the incident has now risen to ten.
Postmortems Underway, Families Waiting for Closure
Out of the ten deceased, seven bodies have already been identified and handed over to their families following postmortems. At LNJP Hospital, 25 injured individuals are currently receiving treatment, with all reported to be in stable condition.
According to hospital sources, postmortems have been conducted under police supervision since early Tuesday morning, with four to five bodies released by 9:30 a.m. to the families. Separate teams were assigned to ensure the process was smooth and to avoid putting pressure on any single team.
DNA Testing Prepared for Two Unidentifiable Bodies
Officials confirmed that seven of the ten bodies were identified by relatives based on facial features, clothing, and tattoos. Among the remaining three, one may still be recognized visually, but the other two were found in multiple fragments, making visual identification impossible. For these, DNA testing is being arranged, and preparations are already underway.
Injured Numbers Rise, Total Death Toll at 10
The number of injured admitted to LNJP Hospital has increased since Monday. While there were 20 injured and nine fatalities on Monday, the count rose to 25 injured and ten fatalities by Tuesday. Hospital sources clarified that the increase in deaths is due to the discovery of an additional body, with no fatalities among the hospitalized patients.
Authorities continue to urge patience as DNA results are awaited, providing the last hope for families seeking closure.
