New Delhi: Commuters on Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line are advised of an important update: the Udyog Bhawan Metro Station has officially been renamed Seva Teerth Bhawan Metro Station. New signage reflecting the station’s name change has already been installed.
The renaming comes a day after the inauguration of the Seva Teerth complex near the station by Narendra Modi, which will house the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretariat, and the National Security Council Secretariat under one roof.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced on Friday that the station’s name would be changed to align its identity with the vision of the newly inaugurated Seva Teerth. He stated that the renaming is intended to link the station with the broader ideals embodied by Seva Teerth, emphasizing public service and citizen welfare.
PM Modi highlighted that Seva Teerth represents dedication to duty, compassion, and the principles of “India First.” He expressed hope that the initiative will inspire future generations to embrace selfless service and work tirelessly for the welfare of all citizens.
This move follows a broader trend of renaming prominent locations to reflect public service values. Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs directed several state and union territory governments to rename vice-regal residences from Raj Niwas to Lok Niwas, and in early 2022, Rajpath was renamed Kartavya Path.
