New Delhi: A shocking incident in Sadatpur, North-East Delhi, left a mechanical engineer dead after a dispute over borrowed money turned violent. Vipin Kumar, 38, suffered a fatal head injury after his neighbor allegedly attacked him with a screwdriver-like tool. He succumbed to a brain hemorrhage nearly two weeks after the assault.
According to police, the case was registered based on a complaint by Vipin’s wife, Pooja Kumar, at Khajuri police station. Vipin, who worked near Sarita Vihar Metro Station, had gone to collect ₹40,000–50,000 he had lent to his neighbor Satish to pay school fees for his children. A heated argument ensued, during which Satish allegedly struck Vipin on the head with a tool resembling a screwdriver or pliers.
The family initially treated Vipin at a local private clinic and believed his injuries were minor. Police were informed and questioned both parties, but the severity of the injury went unnoticed. After nearly two weeks, Vipin experienced severe head pain and was rushed to multiple hospitals. He was eventually diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage and admitted to GB Pant Hospital before being transferred to Lok Nayak Hospital, where he passed away on January 17 at 3:23 PM.
The family reportedly conducted Vipin’s funeral at Lal Bagh Crematorium in Loni on January 18 without informing the police. Later, Pooja called the police to provide full details of the incident. The Khajuri police have registered a case of grievous injury using a deadly weapon and are investigating the matter.
