Delhi Government Takes Steps to Clear Stray Animals Ahead of AI Summit

New Delhi: With the AI Summit scheduled at Bharat Mandapam, the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) Animal Department has completed preparations to ensure the venue and surrounding areas remain free of stray animals. Teams from the MCD will begin operations two days before the summit, targeting not only Bharat Mandapam but also historical landmarks, five-star hotels, airports, and other key locations across the city.

Organized Teams and Responsibilities
The MCD has divided its animal control teams into four groups, each equipped with three vehicles, and staffed with drivers and animal catchers.

  • Group A: Led by Central Zone Deputy Director Dr. Akhilesh Kamal for the first two shifts, and Dr. Ravish Kasana for the third shift, this team will cover areas including Mahatma Gandhi Road South Extension, Sarai Kale Khan, Mathura Road, Lodhi Road, Oberoi Flyover, Central Market Lajpat Nagar, Defense Colony Market, Nehru Place, Lotus Temple, ISKCON Temple, Nizamuddin Dargah, Humayun’s Tomb, and India Habitat Centre.
  • Group B: First two shifts led by Narela Zone Deputy Director Dr. M.P.S. Sodhi, and third shift by Dr. Sunil Kumar Ranga.
  • Group C: First two shifts led by Deputy Director Dr. Rajkumar, and third shift by Dr. Prakash Mishra, covering areas such as Dhola Kuwa, Vasant Kunj, and Hyatt Regency vicinity.
  • Group D: Led by Dr. Minaka Sharma and Dr. Nishant Verma, this team will focus on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Dr. Zakir Husain Marg, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort, Tilak Marg, Rajghat, Bhairo Marg, and Old Fort.

This systematic approach ensures that stray animals will be cleared from critical areas, guaranteeing a smooth and safe environment for visitors and dignitaries attending the summit.
