In a shocking daytime incident in Delhi, a gang of miscreants allegedly attacked a man, stole ₹38,000 in cash, debit cards, and other documents, and threw him out of a moving auto rickshaw. The auto driver was caught and beaten by the public before police took him into custody.
The victim, 58-year-old Kanchheed Singh, who resides with his family in Bulandshahr, UP, had come to Delhi for work. While traveling from Kashmiri Gate to Anand Vihar, he hired an auto which picked up two men who later attacked him. The attackers reportedly pressed his neck and forced him to reveal his debit card PIN before robbing him. At Akshardham Flyover, the men threw him out along with his belongings.
Passersby stopped the moving auto and captured the driver, identified as 39-year-old Imtiaz from New Seelampur. Meanwhile, the robbers escaped on foot toward Akshardham Metro Station. The victim later received ATM alerts showing that ₹33,000 had been withdrawn from his account using the stolen card.
Pandav Nagar police in East Delhi registered a case under Section 309(4) for assault and robbery, and arrested the driver Imtiaz. Investigations into the remaining suspects are ongoing.
