New Delhi: In a major push to tackle rising dust pollution, the Delhi government has intensified surveillance across construction sites using video fencing technology. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that both online and offline monitoring systems are now in place to curb pollution caused by construction activities, industries, and vehicular movement.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has launched a self-assessment portal, directly linked with the building sanction process of municipal corporations. This system aims to ensure real-time monitoring and strict adherence to dust-control norms.
35 Teams Conducting Continuous Inspections
Since October 15, as many as 35 DPCC inspection teams have been deployed across the capital. In the first phase, construction projects above 500 sq. meters were examined. Quick action was taken against unregistered sites, resulting in:

- 48 construction sites sealed
- Environmental compensation exceeding ₹2.36 crore imposed on 25 projects
Survey of Unregistered Projects Underway
Minister Sirsa informed that the number of registered projects on the DPCC portal increased from 653 to 747 between October 21 and November 14. Since October 29, inspections have been conducted at 461 sites, leading to swift enforcement actions.
A comprehensive survey of unregistered projects is also ongoing. Out of 4,881 locations, inspections have been completed at 467, where 33 new violations were detected. All violators have been served show-cause notices.
DPCC teams are also checking diesel generators and various air-polluting industries to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
