
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has warmly welcomed the Union Budget 2026, calling it a comprehensive blueprint for a “Developed India” and a step forward in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for 2047.
Budget Praised for Inclusive Vision
Speaking on the budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday, CM Gupta congratulated the finance minister, noting that the allocation of ₹1.4 lakh crore for capital expenditure will significantly help states accelerate their development. She highlighted that the budget addresses every segment of society and includes initiatives particularly beneficial for youth, education, and healthcare.
Focus on Cultural Heritage and Tourism
CM Gupta lauded the budget’s emphasis on India’s cultural heritage, noting its potential to develop the tourism sector. She also praised initiatives like the “Khelo India Mission” and the incentives provided for disaster management, which will benefit cities including Delhi. According to her, the budget successfully balances development with the preservation and promotion of India’s cultural legacy.
Historic Infrastructure Initiatives
Commenting on infrastructure, CM Gupta described the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor as a historic step toward accelerating the vision of a developed India. “This is not just a rail project; it is a symbol of speed, progress, and public trust,” she said. The project is expected to enhance connectivity, boost tourism, create large-scale employment opportunities for youth, and strengthen the ease of doing business.

CM Gupta expressed her satisfaction, stating, “I am delighted with the budget presented today. It touches every segment of society and encourages new avenues in business. The emphasis on youth employment, preservation of cultural heritage, and development of a vibrant tourism industry is truly impressive.”
She concluded by emphasizing that the budget aligns with the long-term vision of a “Developed India 2047” and takes a significant step forward in realizing the nation’s development goals.
