Delhi Blast Probe: Three Al-Falah University Doctors Under NIA Scanner, Students Speak Out

Faridabad, Haryana: The November 10 Delhi Red Fort metro station blast has sent shockwaves through Al-Falah University, located in Faridabad. Investigation agencies, led by the NIA, are interrogating the university’s professors and students to uncover possible connections to the blast.

Three university professors have come under suspicion. Umar Un Nabi, 33, reportedly drove the car on the day of the blast. Alongside him are Dr. Shaheen Shahid, 46, and Dr. Muzammil Ahmed Ganai, 35, both allegedly linked to the terrorist module. Umar served as an assistant professor in the university’s medicine department. Students describe him as quiet yet highly intelligent.

Strict Shaheen, Friendly Muzammil
Dr. Shaheen Shahid, arrested in Lucknow, was known for her conservative approach. A student recalled that she frequently reprimanded female students for wearing T-shirts and jeans and was very strict about discipline.

Dr. Muzammil, an MBBS graduate from the same university and MD from SKIMS Srinagar, returned as faculty and was extremely popular among students. Final-year MBBS students described him as helpful and approachable, finding it hard to believe he could be involved in any terrorist activities.

Campus Under Tense Surveillance
Following these developments, Al-Falah University campus is in a state of fear and uncertainty. NIA, Haryana Police, and Jammu & Kashmir Police teams are continuously questioning students and faculty members. Students report that two to three individuals are being summoned daily, with those close to Umar or Muzammil facing additional scrutiny.

Impact on Students
Despite their fears, many final-year MBBS students and interns are reluctant to leave the university, as this is a critical phase of their careers. Students report a pervasive sense of anxiety and distraction during lectures due to ongoing investigations.

The Al-Falah Charitable Trust has stated full cooperation with authorities, providing all requested documents, including property records, trust deeds, government NOCs, building plans, and approvals from UGC and the National Medical Commission.

Missing Professor Sparks Rumors
Meanwhile, another professor, Dr. Nisar-ul-Hassan, is reported missing. Sources indicate that the NIA has taken him into custody for questioning. His wife, Dr. Suraiya, confirmed his removal for interrogation on Wednesday night. Dr. Nisar was previously an assistant professor at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, but was dismissed in November 2023 over allegations of promoting separatist ideologies.

Investigation agencies are now working to connect all links between these professors and their associates, keeping students and staff on high alert. Al-Falah University remains under stringent surveillance as inquiries continue.
